The BLSV wants to avoid another lockdown for the sport.

President Jörg Ammon is optimistic that it can work with “3G”.

Munich - A look back at the months of 2020 and 2021 marked by the Corona * pandemic, as well as an outlook for the upcoming sporting year 2022, were the core topics of a digital sport press conference by the Bavarian State Sports Association (BLSV).

The greatest challenge for organized sport in the future is, according to BLSV President Jörg Ammon, "to get children and young people back into sport and exercise".

Corona-PK at the BLSV: young people back to sport - what about the number of members?

Further topics of the online press conference were the effects of the corona pandemic on the number of members and finances of the BLSV, the participation of the association in the vaccination campaign of the Free State of Bavaria, the positive development in sports facility construction and the investments that the BLSV has already made and still required in digital systems .

In terms of members, the approximately 12,000 sports clubs organized in the BLSV had a total of 4,322,473 members as of July 31, 2021 - compared to mid-year 2020, this corresponds to a decrease of 3.2 percent.

Especially among children (- 8.9 percent) and young people (- 2.8 percent), the sports clubs had to accept a significant decline during this period.

Even if the number of members in the BLSV is increasing again after a year 2020 that was completely shaped by the corona pandemic since the opening of sport in June 2021, it will apply in the future, especially children and young people of "Generation Z" (11 to 25 years) for to inspire more sport and exercise. BLSV managing director Prof. Dr. Susanne Burger on the objectives of the BLSV: “Together with our sports youth and our scientific partners, we are currently working on a life cycle model. For us, the focus is on “Generation Z” in particular - those athletes who value sustainability and healthy nutrition, have a large circle of friends and are at home in both the analogue and the digital world. We have to inspire this target group in particular for more sport and exercise and develop specific offers. ”The BLSV also expects the major event of the European Championships 2022 in Munich to have a pull for Bavaria’s sport:“ We want to use the turbo of the European Championships to attract even more children and to get young people excited about club sport, ”said Susanne Burger.

Corona: BLSV President Ammon recapitulates last year - "It was us in a snowfield"

According to BLSV President Jörg Ammon, last year was a huge challenge for organized sport: "It was like being in a snowfield: Nobody saw paths, you just knew there was a crevasse somewhere." Nevertheless, Bavarian sport is like that the President continued, "got through the pandemic well".

This was also confirmed by Werner Lechner, the chairman of the BLSV supervisory board, whose task, together with the economic council, is to control the operational business: “The annual financial statements of the BLSV for 2020 have again received an unqualified audit certificate from the independent auditors.

In addition, the association has decided on a compliance code, which is now being implemented. "

Sports clubs renovate during the Corona break: application volume at record level

Since the beginning of the corona pandemic in 2020, many sports clubs have used the time wisely and renovated and renewed their sports facilities.

With more than 1600 building applications since June 2019, the application volume is at a record level.

Overall investments of more than 203 million euros were made, especially the special program for structurally weak regions of the Free State of Bavaria helps here throughout Bavaria - both for Bavarian sport and as an economic stimulus program for the local economy.

A model example of the great importance of sports facility construction is also becoming reality in the BLSV in Bischofsgrün, Upper Franconia: with the new Sports Camp Northern Bavaria, which will be inaugurated in mid-September and should open in autumn 2021, an absolute lighthouse project for Bavarian sports is about to be completed.

Another decisive factor in addition to the construction of sports facilities is digitization.

In order to be able to optimally reach all sports clubs even during the corona pandemic, in addition to the BLSV Service Center and the digital media of the BLSV via website, social media and club mailings, the digital platform BLSVdigital in particular was a decisive plus.

This digital interface between the BLSV and around 12,000 clubs is continuously being expanded and further developed.

Perspectives for the new year: BLSV sets a clear direction - "Vaccination is a task for society as a whole"

Regarding the future prospects for the coming sporting year, the direction of the BLSV is clear, as President Jörg Ammon emphasized again in the press conference: “Vaccination is a task for society as a whole.

We are of the opinion that vaccinations are the only way out of the pandemic and back into a normal sporting life. ”Like the BLSV, many clubs support the vaccination campaign of the Free State of Bavaria and offer vaccination campaigns within the association.

At the end of the press conference, BLSV President Jörg Ammon formulated a wish to politicians: “Our demand to politicians is that there should not be a new lockdown in autumn. From our point of view, with the 3G concept - vaccinated, tested, recovered - no further restrictions in organized sport are necessary. ”
