After investigation, the Customs arrested the female tutor, the male director of the tutorial school and a female salesperson.
The Customs stated that during the investigation, a batch of promotional materials about another 21-year-old female tutor was found in the cram school. The statement stated that the results of the public test were inconsistent with the facts. The female tutor was arrested yesterday (13th). She is currently on bail pending further investigation. .
Haiwei received a complaint from the public in April this year, alleging that a tutor in a tutoring house in Kowloon City made false claims about his academic qualifications when providing tutoring services.
Customs investigations revealed that the tutor’s claimed academic qualifications were fraudulent, including the claim that he graduated with honors from a local university in Hong Kong, and that his outstanding results in the Hong Kong College Entrance Examination and the Hong Kong College Examination were all false.
The Customs had previously arrested the 38-year-old female tutor, the 38-year-old male director of the cram school and the 29-year-old female salesperson.
The customs reminds merchants to comply with the provisions of the Trade Descriptions Ordinance, and consumers should patronize reputable merchants when purchasing services and make clear information about the services before making a transaction decision. If any merchant applies false product descriptions to consumers The services provided are illegal, and upon conviction, the maximum penalty is a fine of 500,000 yuan and imprisonment for 5 years.
