It was a shocking moment: there was almost a collision on the S-Bahn track.
The federal police are investigating, the railway draws personnel consequences.
Wolfratshausen / Icking - One week after the near collision of two S-Bahn trains near Icking, it is still unclear how this could have happened.
As reported, two trains approached each other on the single-track section.
It was only by chance that they could brake early enough.
Because people had been on the track shortly before, the train drivers had to drive slowly.
"We are happy that it turned out so lightly," says Federal Police spokesman Wolfgang Hauner.
All 34 passengers were uninjured and were able to continue their journey with a rail replacement service.
According to Hauner, two factors prevented a collision: the clear view due to the good weather that day and the slow speed of both trains.
Was it a misunderstanding?
The investigations indicate this
It currently seems possible that the saving slow speed command was the cause of the clash.
“There are increasing indications that this command was misunderstood and that a driver interpreted it as a shutdown command,” says Hauner.
But that is not yet certain.
The investigation continues.
"For this purpose, the tachographs are evaluated and spoken to the people involved," explains the police spokesman.
In addition, a damaged switch is checked.
Bahn has reacted - for the time being, the driver of a train is no longer deployed
Deutsche Bahn does not want to comment on the details yet because of the ongoing investigations.
A company spokesman only says: "The driver of one of the S-Bahn trains was relieved immediately after the incident and will no longer be used in the transport service until the facts have been finally clarified." The transport company left unanswered several times about fencing in the future to make access to the platform more difficult.

The Bavarian Ministry of Transport is currently examining several different measures in the S-Bahn network as part of the “Bahnausbau Region München” program - one of which is the double-track expansion of the S7 line between Höllriegelskreuth and Wolfratshausen.
Results are expected in the coming year.
The federal government is dealing with the incident
However, Andreas Wagner, member of the Bundestag from Geretsried, does not want to wait that long.
The spokesman for the left parliamentary group in parliament for local public transport sent a request to the federal government in which he wanted to know which immediate measures were being taken to prevent similar dangerous situations in the future.
The answer from the Ministry of Transport is still pending.
