In talks with the CEOs of the four funds, the prime minister explained that the goal is to "double the rate of immunization next week"

Against the background of the morbidity data and after the vaccination campaign was extended to people aged 50 and over, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett spoke today (Friday) with the HMOs' CEOs and instructed them to also carry out vaccinations on Saturdays and nights.

Bennett stressed that the goal is to double the rate of immunization of civilians next week, by strengthening the immune system in IDF medics, a move agreed with Defense Minister Bnei Gantz.

A statement from the Prime Minister's Office stated that Bennett had explained that "this is a matter of saving lives and mental supervision aimed at protecting public health, and therefore they should engage in the round-the-clock immunization effort - 24 hours, seven days a week."

Earlier today, Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz was vaccinated with the third dose of vaccine at Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba. "After seeing that the vaccine for those aged 60 and over is completely safe and effective, and we have an indication that it dramatically raises the level of protection in the body in the face of the delta strain that is now spreading, it was decided to lower the age of immunization," the minister said. "I call on all my peers - get vaccinated soon. Make an appointment now, it is also possible on Friday-Saturday, we are in a race against the spread of the plague, do not delay."
