Holzkirchen can look forward to more than 200,000 euros from a special fund of the Free State for local revitalization.

There are six projects to choose from for the system - only some are funded.

Holzkirchen - The market town of Holzkirchen also benefits from the Bavarian urban development program for the special fund “Inner cities animate 2021” (we reported).

A total of 100 million euros is available for 279 cities and municipalities.

Holzkirchen can look forward to a cash injection of 200,000 euros to revitalize the town center.

Market builder Florens Hintler now explains which measures the money could be used for.

According to Hintler, the community had previously applied for the program with six projects.

“Only part of it is funded,” he says.

Ultimately, the government decides which measures go into the pot.

Afterwards, the local council still has to vote on it.

After all, the community's own share is around 20 percent, with the state assuming 80 percent of the costs.

Funding pot: urban planning concept, city center management or rooms for cultural events?

The first project for which the town hall applied for funding is an urban planning concept for the future of Münchner Straße.

“That will probably come,” estimates Hintler.

The aim is to clarify where it makes sense to maintain the trade focus and where other uses, such as cultural or even residential use, make sense, explains Hintler.

“A shop is not efficient at every point,” says the market builder.

The building committee recently recommended initiating the process for a development plan on Münchner Strasse (we reported).

This is to protect the character of the street with shops and bars as a focus and formative buildings, it said.

The second project is an urban city center management.

This is about advice for dealers, traders and owners of retail spaces who are suffering from the corona pandemic.

With the special fund, the Free State of Bavaria supports cities and municipalities in counteracting the consequences of the crisis in the town centers.

The third module aims in the same direction, which provides for the temporary rental of vacant business premises by the municipality.

During this time and until a suitable tenant is found, the market town could, for example, make the rooms available for cultural events.

Holzkirchen: Also parking guidance systems, street furniture or open space planning competition in the race

Another project that is on the funding list is the digitization and visualization of the existing parking guidance system. "This could strengthen the location advantage for dealers," explains Hintler. However, he does not believe that the government will support this project.

Component number five would be the provision of street furniture such as benches or plants. And the sixth point is an open space planning competition, through which the market square and Herdergarten are to be pimped up. First of all, it is about the preparation and implementation of the competition, says Hintler. Then later about its implementation. The beautification of the market place has already been an issue in the past. For example, the municipality wants to improve paving in order to make the underground barrier-free, and new pathways and benches to linger were also under discussion.
