Elisa Carrió was fully involved in the controversy over the celebrations in the Quinta de Olivos and accused Alberto Fernández of being a "
cheeky
" for holding his partner, Fabiola Yanez, responsible for the entry of people to the presidential residence in full quarantine.
"
You cannot blame your partner, it is your responsibility
. The entrance to Olivos is not determined by Fabiola but by the President of the Nation," said the former deputy.
And he continued: "La Quinta de Olivos is not the private house, it
is the public house where the President resides
."
This Friday the president spoke after the dissemination of a photo that showed the moment of the toast with his partner and ten other people at the presidential residence, on July 14, 2020, during the hardest stage of the quarantine.
It was his first statement on the subject.
"
Fabiola called a meeting with her friends and a toast that should not have been done
, which I definitely realize should not have been done. And I am sorry that it happened. I clearly regret it," said the President this Friday, during an act in Olavarría.
In that speech, the president also affirmed that the information became public because it was the Government itself that released the list of people who entered Olivos.
Given this, Carrió replied: "Fernández provides that information by the law on access to information,
something that forces him to give the documents,
" he said in dialogue with
TN
.
With an ironic tone, the leader of the Civic Coalition stated: "I was moved by that voice of his human condition. In life there are soft faces and also hard faces.
It seems to me that Mr. President is a cheek
."
The former legislator again removed the first lady, although with a defense that does not leave the President's partner well off: "I do not know who Fabiola Yañez is,
nor Fernández knows who Fabiola is
. I cannot blame her of what happened. I cannot accuse her
of being responsible for those who enter Olivos
. "

While Carrió questioned the President's speech, several opposition leaders expressed their criticism on social media.
One of the first to demonstrate was Alfredo Cornejo, former governor of Mendoza, who stressed that the President “does not like to hide anything, but he
did not explain why he lied
” about the photograph of the birthday organized at Quinta de Olivos on July 14, 2020, during the toughest stage of restrictions.
The national deputy for the UCR Luis Petri also joined in the criticism.
"Until yesterday they said that they only had work meetings, after the photo had been tampered with and now that it was a meeting that should not have been done.
It is the same logic that he used in the VIP vaccination
," said the Mendoza legislator.
Luis Juez, former Argentine ambassador to Ecuador and current legislator in the lower house for Córdoba, reflected: “
They laughed in our faces, they disrespected us, they denigrated us, they humiliated
us, they condemned us to live 18 months locked up while they were away. fuck it.
Mr. President, if nobody is more than nobody, instead of apologizing, pay your faults properly ”.
For Mario Negri, president of the UCR bloc in Deputies, the President
"went further into its labyrinth"
after blaming Fabiola.
