Becoming a millionaire overnight: For some, this dream can become a reality - for example in the lottery.

But many would-be millionaires in Bavaria know nothing about their happiness.

Munich - The Bavarian Lotto Society in Munich is currently looking for several lucky people who became millionaires overnight.

Like Lotto Bayern

reported, 13 players and syndicates have won millions in the lottery since the beginning of the year - but many do not even collect their money.

This happened to a woman from Lower Franconia while playing the lottery a few weeks ago: She carried the ticket around with her for a month and a half until she found out about her winnings from the lottery point.

Now she is the proud owner of 33 million euros - and has thus cleared one of the highest profits in Bavaria.

"At the thought of having carried almost 33 million euros around in my wallet for several weeks, I still feel dizzy," said the winner, according to the Bavarian Lotto headquarters.

Lotto: Headquarters is looking for the winner with wanted posters - but without success

But not every story ends so happily: According to information from the

dpa,

the main prize of the special “BayernMillion” has been waiting for its owner

in Memmingen

since the end of 2019.

It is known that the ticket was handed in on December 21, 2019 at 11.30 a.m. at a collection point in the Memmingen area.

But there has been no trace of the owner since then.

Out of desperation, Lottozentrale Bayern even put up posters to remind the winner of the pickup, as Lotto spokesman Rainer Holmer

reports to

the

dpa

.

But the campaign didn't bring anything: “We're still looking,” says Holmer.

The winner with lot number 0426492 still has time to collect the million until December 31, 2023.

Curious lottery stories: winners don't collect millions

In Central Franconia, too, 1.14 million euros have been available for collection for several weeks.

According to the

dpa

, 1.26 million euros were last won in the Wednesday lottery

in Upper Bavaria

on July 28th.

But even here no one has reported so far.

According to Lotto spokesman Holmer, it happens more often that players do not check their numbers themselves, but only ask at the acceptance point whether there is a profit on the ticket.

Again and again there are reports from winners who dig their ticket out of the waste paper bin.

The lottery company of Bavaria therefore recommends a customer card.

This means that all contributions can be automatically transferred to the account.

The problem: Many customers still prefer anonymous participation at the customer counter, as the Bavarian Lotto

Society

tells

the

dpa

.

Other lottery companies don't know the problem of finding a winner: The Süddeutsche Kassenlotterie (SKL), for example, records all players right from the start.

Million is not picked up: what happens to the money?

If you do not collect your winnings on time, you have to expect that it will go back into the lottery pot. Part of the profits will also go to the Bavarian Ministry of Finance, as

reported by

the

dpa

. Because: The state lottery administration in Bavaria is also subordinate to the Ministry of Finance. The Free State can then use the proceeds to support social, cultural or sporting projects.
