At about midnight on Saturday (14th), a private car was driving along the Tai Po Highway-Sha Tin Ridge section towards Sha Tin.
On the way to a bus stop near the observation point of Tai Po Road, he knocked down a wild boar.
The driver of the private car was fortunately unharmed, but the wild boar was severely injured while lying on the road, vomiting blood and became incontinent on the spot.
After the SPCA sent personnel to the scene, it was confirmed that it was obviously dead.
It is understood that the wild boar is a female and adult. As it weighs about 90 kilograms (approximately 198 pounds), personnel need to move it to the side of the road before handling it.
The driver of the private car involved confirmed that he had not drunk or drove with drugs. After assisting in the investigation on the spot, he was allowed to let him go.
