The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity announced today that two electricity transmission lines were targeted by a terrorist with explosive devices, noting that the two lines feed the Karkh water project near Baghdad.
A statement by the ministry, which was reported by Alsumaria News website, stated that the electric power transmission lines “Karkh-Nasr Water” and “Karkh-Tarmia Water” of the General Company for Electricity Transmission in the Central Region were exposed this morning to a terrorist act of sabotage by detonating explosive devices that damaged the tower carrying the two lines. The two mentioned near the Karkh water station.
The statement added: Urgent measures were taken by the company to inspect the two damaged lines for the purpose of completing the required maintenance and returning them to service.
It is noteworthy that the “Kirkuk” Baiji lines were subjected to an attack last Tuesday, which caused the fall of 7 electric power transmission towers in Kirkuk governorate.
