The Swedish "Nordic Monitor" website, which specializes in military and security affairs, revealed documents proving that the Turkish regime's embassy in the Italian capital, Rome, spied on Turkish citizens.
In a report published today, the website said that the embassy sent a list of these Turkish citizens who oppose the policies of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Ankara, where the Turkish Foreign Ministry sent it to its judiciary, which resulted in the initiation of judicial proceedings against them on charges of “membership in a terrorist group.”
The website indicated that this is not the first time that diplomatic missions of the Erdogan regime have been involved in spying operations on his opponents. In 2018, the Turkish Public Prosecutor opened investigations about 16 Turkeys abroad, including spy files sent by Turkish diplomats, and the accusation of “membership in a terrorist group.”
The website indicated that there are "activities by the Turkish diplomatic missions in Switzerland, Germany, Greece, Belgium, India and Colombia to collect information about the Turks as part of an espionage campaign."
It is noteworthy that the Erdogan regime continues its repressive and arbitrary campaigns against its opponents inside and outside Turkey, where its intelligence has kidnapped many of these opponents and took them to Turkey to face imprisonment and arrest. Suspension of work for about 150,000 government employees, members of the army, police, judiciary, media and others.
