"When we pulled people out, the smoke got darker and darker," says Bilek.
Now, he knows, it has to be done quickly.
A few minutes after the first responders pulled the passengers out of the accident vehicle, the flames beat out of the car.
As the police noted in their accident report yesterday, the quick intervention of the first aiders was "absolutely right and necessary".
The caravan burns out completely, the surrounding fire brigades need several hours for use, the motorway has to be completely closed in the meantime in the direction of Munich.

Sascha Bilek only really realized that the rescue operation was not without risk when everyone had been rescued from the car. "The adrenaline has dropped a bit and you start to brood," he says. Still, he would do it again anytime. “That everything went well was because everyone helped together very well,” says the sergeant.
