Germering - The currently planned development on Kreuzlinger Feld in Germering has been arousing emotions in the large district town for a long time.

"The citizens' initiative" Livable Germering "has come together to fight for sensible and sustainable development there," explains BI spokesman Thomas Langnickel. Among other things, this should preserve the existing fresh air corridor for the city center and significantly reduce the sealing of almost 80 percent of the total area. In many other aspects, too, the activists and their supporters demand concepts for the challenges of our time instead of planning that is optimized for the needs of investors.

"The recent extreme weather events have painfully demonstrated that some of the demands are up to date," says the BI. Despite exceeding the necessary 2,100 signatures, the referendum in the city council was rejected by the majority of the CSU and free voters. This rejection was based on a legal opinion commissioned by the city administration. This was made by the same law firm that had already brought down the referendum against the mail distribution center. The counter-arguments put forward by a lawyer by the citizens' initiative were ignored.

A corresponding decision was sent to those responsible for the referendum, against which a lawsuit was filed on July 22nd - if only because of the obligation to the citizens who signed the referendum.

The Bavarian Administrative Court in Munich accepted the lawsuit on July 26th.

"So now an independent court is deciding how to proceed and not the citizens for the time being," said Langnickel.

The citizens' initiative has already received donations from the group of supporters in order to be able to financially support the lawsuit.

Nevertheless, those responsible are looking forward to further support in order to have the approval of the referendum clarified by an independent court.

"For Germering it would be a good sign if the citizens could finally vote on the development of the Kreuzlinger Feld within the framework of a belated referendum," the citizens' initiative wants to continue fighting for this.
