Today, the Ugarit Cultural Forum, in cooperation with the Association of University Graduates in Homs, revived the seventh Ugarit Cultural Festival entitled Guardians of Jasmine, on the occasion of the founding day of the Syrian Arab Army.

The festival included honoring female figures from the artistic and cultural community, the artist Tawfiq Iskandar and the writer Dr. Nazih Bodour, with the participation of a number of poets, including Laund Ali Alou, who presented a patriotic poem in which he evoked the heroism and sacrifices of our heroic army and the saying of the martyr Yahya Al-Shaghari “God to erase it,” which became a poem of challenge and a legend of struggle.

The poet Khadija al-Hassan also recited poetry pieces saluting the Syrian Arab Army, which perfumed the homeland with the sanctity of its giving and nobility, in addition to poetry clips that were characterized by contemplation and existence that reflected the suffering of the Syrian person and his belonging to the motherland, while the poet Muhammad Khair Daghestani delivered a patriotic and flirtatious notice.

Poet Sana al-Sabbagh, head of the Ugarit Cultural Forum, recited poems for the homeland and the martyr. Their meanings came from the greatness of those who sacrificed his soul to protect his land and people, and poetry and literature derive their meanings from his exploits.

The writer Issa Ismail delivered the association’s speech in which he indicated that today’s festival is a message of loyalty, appreciation and pride for our brave army at the headquarters of the Association of University Graduates, which is one of the oldest cultural platforms in Syria since it was founded in 1961 to continue its pioneering role in the local and Arab cultural movement.

In Zahra Ugarit’s segment with young talents, George Haddad on the “organ” and Dala’ Arbash on the Buzuq instrument presented a musical link to patriotic songs “My Home and Your Knotting Your Foot, I’m Syrian” and pieces by great Arab musicians, including Melhem Barakat, Ziad Rahbani and Baligh Hamdi.

The young woman, Nagham Hammad, performed the song “Targhaly” by the artist George Wassouf, and the artist Rabah Al-Zein and his band presented a variety of lyrical music, including patriotic songs for the homeland, the leader and the army, including “Your People Are Chosen” and the Qudoud Aleppo link.

It is noteworthy that the Ugarit cultural platform includes a group of intellectuals and writers from different governorates and is based in Damascus.
