NEW - On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the famous Countach gives birth to a modern interpretation produced in 112 units.

Lamborghini has a sense of homage. For the 50 years of the famous Countach, the Sant'Agata firm presented at the Californian competition of elegance of Pebble Beach, on the shores of the Pacific, a supercar which appears as a modern reinterpretation of the famous berlinetta designed by Marcello Gandini. Five years after revolutionizing the world of sports cars by presenting the Miura, the first GT with a rear mid-engine, Lamborghini continues to create a sensation. At the 1971 Geneva Motor Show, the Italian firm unveiled a new GT intended to take over from the Miura. Designed by Marcello Gandini who officiates in the Bertone bodywork, the Countach, it is his baptismal name, makes cars switch into a modern era.Lamborghini's new flagship abandons the round shapes in vogue in the 1960s for very angular and very pure lines. Its silhouette devoid of aerodynamic appendages incorporates doors with elytron opening. Enthusiastic amateurs will have to be patient, however. The first deliveries will not begin before 1974. The Countach marks an essential step in the history of the Italian firm since it introduces the stylistic DNA which has inspired most models since that time. The Countach marks an essential step in the history of the Italian firm since it introduces the stylistic DNA that has inspired most models since that time. The Countach marks an essential step in the history of the Italian firm since it introduces the stylistic DNA that has inspired most models since that time.

Lamborghini's design office has therefore set itself the challenge of reinterpreting the shapes of the Countach.

Essay transformed: the proportions are respected, as are the stylistic details.

This is how we find the Naca intakes of the LP 500 versions of the 1980s but also the particular cutout of the rear wheel arch and the side air intakes for cooling the engine in the form of a fin.

A close relative of the 63-unit Sián supercar, the 21st-century Countach is based on a monocoque chassis covered with carbon fiber body elements. From the Sián, the Countach also borrows its light hybridization engine. This is the naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12. Still located in the rear central position, it provides the power of 780 horsepower. It is associated with a 34 horsepower electric motor operating at 48 volts and integrated into the gearbox. As with the Sián, instead of a lithium-ion battery, the electric machine is powered by supercapacitors. This system helps to limit weight gain. The Countach LPI 800-4 does not exceed 1,595 kilos.

The new Countach will give birth to a limited series production of 112 copies (internal code name).

The first copies will be delivered from the first quarter of 2022 at a price close to 3 million euros.
