At the start of school, however, it will not work.
Two federal and state funding programs are helping the municipalities to purchase air purifiers.
But the grandiose promises of the government for starting school are absolute utopia and election skirmishes, "we are now bathing out" what the federal government and the prime minister had screwed up, complained SPD city councilor Götz Braun.
Mayor Dietmar Gruchmann (SPD) also said: “We are of course unsettled.
Especially since the community day advises against commissioning air purifiers as long as it is not clear what will happen to the daycare centers and after-school care centers. "

The city councils agreed that action had to be taken. The administration therefore proposed a restriction to rooms without air purification systems in order to fall below the threshold value of 214,000 euros, for which an EU-wide tender is necessary. So there would be the possibility of being able to place orders in mid-September after a shortened award procedure. "With a lot of luck, the mobile devices would be there in late autumn at the earliest, if at all," predicted Gruchmann. But stationary systems weren't too long in coming spring of 2022 either. The administration therefore suggested equipping the West Elementary School and the Middle School, which were renovated and equipped with ventilation around ten years ago, with stationary systems. The Ost primary school and also Hochbrück would have to be renovated in the coming years anyway,mobile air purifiers would be ideal here.
The councils agreed with 14: 2 votes to immediately commission an engineering office to examine all rooms in schools and daycare centers, to make a technical recommendation and to immediately submit a tender and order.
The devices are then ordered for the schools.
The daycare centers would follow if the funding commitments were substantiated.
The daycare children could change rooms and would have the opportunity to spend more time in the fresh air than schoolchildren.
