During the past 24 hours, Russia recorded 819 new deaths from the emerging coronavirus, in the highest daily toll ever in the country since the virus began to spread.
Sputnik quoted a statement issued by the Anti-Corona Virus Headquarters in Russia as saying today that the total deaths rose to 169,683 cases.
The statement added that 22,144 new cases of the virus were recorded, bringing the total to 6579,212 infections, noting that the capital, Moscow, recorded 2,317 new infections during the past 24 hours, being the highest recorded of infections, followed by Saint Petersburg with 1823 cases and Moscow suburbs with 1307 cases.
The statement indicated that the total number of recoveries reached 5,867,890, after 19,550 patients were discharged from hospitals since yesterday.
Yesterday, Russia recorded 815 deaths and 22,277 new cases of corona.
