The summer temperatures make Germany sweat.
However, it could be over by Sunday.
Then it will be uncomfortable.
Munich - Germany groans under the great heat.
The midsummer weather, which has moved from North Africa to Europe, makes the thermometers soar on the weekend (14/15 August).
The high "Elfie" had already brought extreme temperatures, sometimes well over 40 degrees, to Italy, Spain and France.
Now it is also afflicting Germany and Austria.
In this country it will initially be very hot in the south of Germany.
In the further course of the weekend, the west and east of the republic will also have to reckon with the effects of the Sahara heat.
In Italy, Sicily last week even measured the record value of 48.8 degrees.
Similar to parts of Greece, there are forest fires due to the heat wave.
The temperature fluctuations in Germany will not be quite as severe.
However, according to the forecast of the German Weather Service (DWD), peak values of 32 degrees must be expected on Saturday (August 14).
Sunday (August 15th) should bring similar temperatures.
Weather in Germany: After the great heat on the weekend, the temperature drop follows
But according to the DWD predictions, the big weather change will already come on Sunday afternoon.
After a heat wave and pure sunshine, the risk of thunderstorms increases "south of the Moselle and Main".
There is even a risk of storms regionally.
“In the next few days there is a threat of violent thunderstorms, sometimes with large hail and heavy storms.
Especially in southern Germany, ”said meteorologist Georg Haas from
Wetter.com
.
Already in the night of Monday (August 16) the temperatures drop significantly, in the Eifel even to eleven degrees. The DWD expects precipitation in large parts of Germany. During the course of the day, Monday only brings summer 26 degrees in southeast Bavaria. The rest of the country has to be content with temperatures between 17 and 24 degrees. It can get very windy in places, and near the coast and in higher mountain areas there can even be stormy gusts. Precipitation is also to be expected.
According to DWD forecasts, Tuesday (August 17) will bring similar weather to the day before.
The north-east and the Alpine region have to expect heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Otherwise, the sky across Germany should be cloudy, sometimes with short rain showers.
The maximum temperatures should then only be 17 to 23 degrees after the hot weekend.
Weather in Germany: The next high pressure area is already approaching - summer is returning
But don't worry, midsummer is not over yet.
With Hoch "Fridoline" the next warm air area is already in the starting blocks.
“Fridoline” is supposed to bring warm air from the North Sea and Scandinavia to Germany as well.
South and West Germany will therefore be waving up to 25 degrees from Thursday (August 19).
Friday could even crack the 30-degree limit.
