Twelve American institutions supporting Palestinian rights called on the US Congress to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities to stop the demolition of Palestinian homes in Silwan, occupied Jerusalem.

Wafa news agency reported that these institutions issued a statement calling on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic Majority Chairman Chuck Schumer to immediately intervene and pressure the occupation to stop the demolition of 16 homes in Silwan, occupied Jerusalem, and to end the policy of ethnic cleansing against the Palestinians.

The statement explained that "since May 2021, hundreds of Palestinian families in Jerusalem, including 16 in the Al-Bustan neighborhood of Silwan, have faced the threat of arbitrary expulsion," noting that "the United States' support for Israel and the silence about its crimes against the Palestinians encourage it to commit more ethnic cleansing practices."

Among the signatories to the statement are the “Justice” organization, the “Arab Center for Resources and Organization,” the “Palestine Solidarity Group,” the “Palestinian American Network,” and the “American Campaign for Palestinian Rights.”

The occupation authorities had recently handed 16 Palestinian families in the Al-Bustan neighborhood in Silwan town notices to demolish their homes.
