A 53-passenger boat ends up overturned in Texas in the middle of a storm: there is one dead

After being rescued, 80-year-old Karl Katzenberger was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, authorities said. The boat was on a 90-minute trip on Lake Conroe in Texas when it crashed.

A party boat capsized and sank during a severe electrical storm in Texas, leaving an 80-year-old man dead

The boat collapsed on Saturday at Lake Conroe, Texas, about 40 miles north of Houston, while on a 90-minute trip, according to local media

were 53 people on board at

the time of the wreck

, Kirk McDonnell, a spokesman for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department

said in a statement to NBC News.

The Montgomery County Precinct 1 Office, the fire department and various rescue teams responded to the incident, McDonnell said.

First responders rescued

Karl Katzenberger, 80, of Montgomery, Texas,

who was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died, McDonnell said.

The rest of the passengers were rescued and received medical attention.

The Parks and Wildlife Department is investigating the incident.
