Farmer Atef Azgoul from Qanawat town in the eastern countryside of As-Suwayda invested in an anaerobic fermentation unit to use the waste of his cows to produce biogas that secures the needs of his home and liquid organic fertilizer for him to use in his orchards planted with apple trees.

Azgoul or Abu Shadi, as he is called, who owns two heads of cows, explained during his interview with SANA reporter that he puts the cow’s waste into the fermentation tank, which has a capacity of three cubic meters continuously, to undergo a fermentation process that results in gas that is connected to a balloon-like device to the home cooking oven by pipes. It serves this purpose with the presence of a cylinder outside the house to fill the surplus of production sometimes and then pump it to the furnace after the amount of gas consumed has run out in a way that ensures the sustainability of the presence of gas.

Abu Shadi indicated that he is currently preparing to operate limited solar panels that contribute to giving the appropriate heat to the fermenter in the winter season to ensure the continuity and permanence of its work because the temperature drops in this cold season.

The success of Abu Shadi's experience, as mentioned, encourages him to think about creating or obtaining a second fermenter in order to serve his son's house next to his house with gas, especially in light of the current circumstances in which the arrival of domestic gas cylinders is late.

Abu Shadi advises everyone who owns a small or large farm to raise cows to take advantage of the fermentation of their waste to obtain the gas that secures their needs and relieves them of the burdens and costs of purchasing chemical fertilizers by making use of organic fertilizers.

Abu Shadi is not only a farmer, but a craftsman who repairs tools and electrical parts. He invested his experience in this aspect to serve agricultural purposes by designing a machine for the manufacture of apple molasses and a small feed mill from the remains of engines and environmental damage, where he started working with them.

It is noteworthy that the technology of anaerobic fermentation of cow waste, which is one of the forms of investment in alternative energy, contributes, in addition to its benefits, to achieving a healthy environment for workers in the livestock sector and the safety of the herd as a result of the daily disposal of waste in a safe manner.
