Carlo Ancelotti's second term on the lines at Real Madrid started excellently with a 1-4 win over Alabs in the opening round of the Spanish league.
The coach was mainly pleased with the second half of his players, and with the ability of Kerim Benzema who scored a double.
Although he thought the pace in the first half was too slow, the Italian coach enjoyed seeing the intensity of the players after the break.
"We were slow in the first half, with and without the ball," he said after the game.
"We could have played better. In the second half he is better, with more intensity and quality."
The coach added: "Benzema's first goal opened the game, giving us more space to use our quality. Calling Benzema just a striker would underestimate him. He is a whole player and also a great personality. Compared to a player I knew six years ago, he is much more complete now."
Ancelotti referred to Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale who started in the squad alongside Benzema: "Hazard played the whole game. He and Bale had a hard time finding areas between the lines in the first half, when Elbas pressed back. I think all the players work well. Bale will be better because he is not yet "In optimal condition as well as the other players. Everyone can get better."
The Spanish media praised Real for the successful start of the season, even in the era after Zinedine Zidane and Sergio Ramos.
"Real have started a season with passion", Marca wrote, and the headline of the ace this morning praises the French striker: "Benzema - this is Real's acquisition", referring to the lack of acquisitions of the team this summer.
