FDP leader Lindner calls for people who have been vaccinated and recovered to be exempted from the mask requirement.
He continues to sharply criticize the CDU's corona policy.
Berlin - FDP party leader Christian Lindner wants to exempt people who have been vaccinated and recovered from the obligation to wear a protective mask against the corona virus in shops.
"I think the mask requirement is superfluous for those who have been vaccinated and recovered," he told
Tagesspiegel
in an interview.
According to Lindner, there is no longer any danger from those who have recovered or who have been vaccinated.
The consequence must therefore be that the mask requirement for these groups of people is abolished by the state.
There should only be exceptions on "very few occasions in public transport".
First and foremost, where it is not possible from a practical point of view to have everyone show a vaccination certificate.
Lindner (FDP) demands: No mask requirement for vaccinated and convalescent
According to Lindner, this should not exclude the voluntary wearing of masks.
Even if retailers insist on a mask, this should be possible.
After all, not every retailer can check vaccination records.
The idea behind his argument: "It is time that the principle of personal health responsibility comes into play again."
Lindner took the opportunity to combine this demand with sharp criticism of the Union and its candidate for Chancellor Armin Laschet (CDU).
In his opinion, the Union will not find its way "out of a state of emergency".
"The pandemic has changed significantly in the last 18 months, but the pandemic policy has not," said Lindner.
In this context, he criticizes Laschet's insistence on renewed extension of the corona measures for the federal and state governments beyond September 11th.
Lindner criticizes Laschet (CDU) and the Union's corona policy
According to Lindner, the endangered groups are protected by vaccinations. In addition, the vaccination rate is increasing. Against this background, Lindner formulates his demand that vaccinated and convalescent people should no longer be subject to any restrictions on freedom. These demands and the associated criticism of the CDU can be seen as part of the FDP's election campaign. On Twitter, the FDP boss receives plenty of criticism for these demands.
