Coronavirus in Germany according to RKI: The current numbers

According to the Robert Koch Institute, the Germany-wide 7-day incidence has risen to 35.0 today, Sunday (August 15). Yesterday it was still at 32.7 - an increase of 2.3 points. Compared to the previous week, the incidence increased by 12.4 from 22.6 points. Within one day, 4728 new infections were reported to the RKI dashboard. A week ago there were only 3,127 new infections within a day in Germany. Across Germany, three new deaths were reported to the RKI within 24 hours. Here the number is falling slightly: a week ago, four new deaths were recorded.

There have been a total of 3,821,013 detected infections with the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic.

However, there is probably a very high number of unreported cases here, as many infections are not recognized.

According to the RKI, a total of 3,679,500 people have recovered across Germany so far.

The number of those who died of or with the participation of a Covid infection recently rose to 91,867 people.

Coronavirus in Germany: Survey at the end of the free corona tests

The end of the free corona tests for next October, decided by the federal and state governments, largely meets with approval from the population. The opinion research institute YouGov carried out a survey on behalf of the German Press Agency. 66 percent of those surveyed said they felt the decision of the federal and state governments to be the right one. 28 percent do not support the new measure, six percent abstained.

With regard to the active restriction of unvaccinated people, however, a completely different picture emerges. Restricting the access of unvaccinated people in certain areas of life and, for example, denying them participation in events, is in favor of only 41 percent of those surveyed. 52 percent are against, seven percent abstained on this question.
