Corpse discovered in Lake Starnberg: passers-by became aware of the man

In Tutzing near Kustermannpark, a lifeless man was discovered floating in the water by passers-by around 7.40 a.m. Even before water rescuers from the water rescue service and DLRG arrived by boat and from land, a water watchman and a DLRG helper from Tutzing were on site, swam out and brought the man to the shore. An emergency doctor could only determine death. The Kripo took over the investigation, among other things, a rescue helicopter had landed on the lake. In the early evening, the Upper Bavaria North Police Headquarters announced that it was a 22-year-old. "The details of the circumstances of death are not yet known and are the subject of the investigations that were taken up by the Fürstenfeldbruck Criminal Police Inspection," the presidium said.

Because of the hot weekend and the correspondingly large rush on the lakes, the rescuers had a lot to do.

On Saturday afternoon, DLRG helpers had to fetch an unconscious man from a boat near the rose island and bring him ashore to the rescue service.

The sailboat was towed.

Water guards, the DLRG and the fire brigade were alerted on Sunday at around 11.30 am because of an allegedly missing swimmer to the "Undosa" in Starnberg.

A passer-by had seen the 70-year-old from Starnberg swim away, but not come back - and as a precaution had alerted rescue workers.

They were just about to start looking when the man swam to the jetty again.

Bavaria leads the sad statistics of bathing deaths.

In no other federal state in Germany more people died in lakes and rivers this year.

Attentive bathers trigger a major search in Tutzing

Later in the afternoon, two swimmers aged 40 briefly went off in Tutzing, which led to a search by the fire brigade and water rescuers.

Both were found safe and sound and had only swum for a long time.

Concerned bathers had also alerted the rescuers there.

“Even if the effort that the water rescue workers make after such an alarm is not insignificant, you shouldn't be afraid to inform the rescue team early on before you search for hours on your own. Then the chance is significantly higher to find those you are worried about promptly, ”explained Oliver Jauch, spokesman for the Starnberg water rescue service. The water rescuers were also active on land: They looked after a dazed man on the Starnberg lake promenade on Saturday afternoon.
