A total of
1,297 people were confirmed this Sunday as dead by the Haitian authorities
, as a result of the strong earthquake registered on Saturday morning, which was felt more strongly and caused greater devastation in the south of the Caribbean island.
The number has not stopped increasing since the tragedy occurred.
The injury count stands at more than 2,800 so far.
