At least 20 people were killed last night (Sunday) in a fuel tank explosion in northern Lebanon, the Lebanese Red Cross said, adding that at least 79 other people were injured in the incident in Achar.
They were evacuated to local hospitals, desperate for blood donations.
The disaster occurred while Lebanon was suffering from severe fuel shortages and economic collapse.
Hospitals have warned in recent days that their supplies are scarce and that they may be forced to shut down.
Local military and security officials said the Lebanese army confiscated a pirate fuel tank, and was in the process of distributing gasoline to residents at the time of the blast.
Eyewitnesses said about 200 residents were in Buzzer.
The Red Cross said its men were still scanning the site of the blast, and he shared on Twitter a picture showing several people inside a large crater.
Hospitals have warned that their fuel is running out.
