After the return of security and stability to the vicinity of the town, the farmers resumed their usual activity in cultivating various crops that are famous for their production, especially the yellow maize crop. past due to the expansion of farming operations.

The head of the agricultural association in the town of Taldra in Salamiyah countryside, Abd Askoor, told SANA reporter that the town’s farmers resumed their activity in cultivating the yellow corn crop, which is one of the intensifying crops and occupies a distinguished position on the agricultural production map in the town, pointing out that harvesting operations are currently taking place throughout the agricultural fields. The crop enjoys an important productive and marketing position and brings additional material income to the people.

The farmer, Ayham Diop, indicated that the farmers started cultivating yellow maize after the production of this year’s wheat season, and currently the harvesting of the crop is taking place, which occupies an important productive and material space for the people of the town in particular and the region in general for the suitability of its land, nature and climate for the cultivation of maize, calling for more support to producers in terms of securing fuel Fertilizers to improve production, both quantitatively and qualitatively.

Farmer Hassan Al-Saleh stressed the farmers’ keenness to give the crop the best types of fertilizers in line with the cultivated variety and the nature of the region and its land, taking into account the selection of a variety of corn that is resistant to drought and the harshness of the environment, which contributes to achieving abundant agricultural yields.

Farmer Azzam Idris promised that the cultivation of yellow corn is an essential pillar in the agricultural production process in the town of Taldra, and the people depend on it to support their livelihood and supplement their material income, especially in light of the current circumstances and the unjust economic siege on the Syrian people.

The agricultural engineer, Nayef al-Hamwi, director of the Agricultural and Extension Department in Salamiyah, explained that maize is one of the widely spread grain crops in Salamiyah villages, especially the village of Taldra, where the area planted with the crop is more than 450 dunums, and its grains are consumed as feed for poultry and livestock, and dextrin, starch and oil are extracted from them, and its plant and residues are consumed. The crop is fodder for cows and buffaloes, and after harvesting, the leaves, stems and stalks of the crop can be used to make paper.

He also pointed out that the soil and the preparation of the land for agriculture play an important role in increasing the productivity of maize, which is one of the crops that thrive in well-drained soils with not high salinity.
