This summer weather was accompanied by a heatwave in the south of the country.
Five departments are also still affected by an orange alert this Sunday: Ardèche, Drôme, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Alpes-Maritimes and Var.
The heatwave alert was launched by Météo France on Wednesday afternoon for Drôme and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, before extending to the other three departments the next day.

More broadly, the south-eastern quarter of France and Corsica will still experience high temperatures during the day, according to Météo France forecasts, as was already the case this Saturday.
Very high temperatures were recorded locally.
At the end of the morning, it was already 41.1 ° C in Cotignac (Var) and 38.7 ° C in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume (Var) and Piedigriggio (Haute-Corse).
In the middle of the day, the mercury was 38.7 ° C in Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux (Drôme) and 37.7 in Figari (Corse-du-Sud).
Thunderstorms in the East
If it is indeed a scorching episode, it is "not exceptional, like what we experienced in 2019," reassured Frédéric Nathan of Météo France during a press point this Friday.

On the other hand, the situation will deteriorate from this Sunday in the East, with thunderstorms forecast in a large part of the Grand Est region which may even be accompanied by hail.
Result, Monday, the entire northeastern quarter will be in the gray, with some showers.
But the weather will return to good weather throughout the country from next Wednesday, according to Météo France forecasts.
