The Supreme Defense Council in Lebanon, which convened under the chairmanship of Lebanese President General Michel Aoun this afternoon at Baabda Palace, decided to assign the military and security forces to impose control over energy sources and organize their distribution on all Lebanese territories for a period of one month and work to empty and close all containers designated for storing fuel in violation of the rules and regulations in force. Action.

At the conclusion of a meeting held today to discuss the explosion of the fuel tank in the town of Talil in Akkar, northern Lebanon, which left dozens of victims and injured, the military and security services requested that the general situation in Akkar be controlled to avoid any security chaos, and that the Ministry of Health should take it upon itself to treat the injured as a result of the explosion.

During the meeting, President Aoun called not to politicize the tragedy that occurred and to exploit the blood of the martyrs and the burns of the wounded to raise slogans and launch calls that clearly reveal the intentions of those who launched them and their involvement in schemes aimed at harming the regime and its institutions.

President Aoun directed the competent judicial authorities to expedite the conduct of all investigations that would reveal the circumstances and causes that led to the catastrophe and prosecute its culprits and those who stand behind them, calling on all Lebanese to show the utmost degree of solidarity in these difficult circumstances and transcend wounds and divisions.

For his part, the resigned Prime Minister, Dr. Hassan Diab, considered that "everyone is interested in saving the country, no one absolves himself of responsibility," explaining that incapacity and surrender means handing the country over to chaos and smugglers.

Twenty-two people were killed and 80 others were injured when a gas tank exploded in the town of Al-Talil in the Akkar region of northern Lebanon.
