Dog owners in the Odelzhausen community will have to pay more dog tax in the future because the local council has revised the dog tax statute.
"It's about a cost-covering fee," said Mayor Markus Trinkl.
Odelzhausen
- There are currently around 353 dogs registered in the community.
In future, the tax will be 85 euros for the first dog and 120 euros for each additional dog.
A reduction of 25 percent is available for owners of dogs who have successfully passed a companion dog test or who can provide evidence of a dog driver's license.
The tax is reduced by 50 percent for dogs with a companion dog examination and a dog driving license.
So far, since 2016, a first dog has cost 44 euros and each additional 64 euros.
According to the administration, costs for dog toilets and bags, disposal, staff and dog tags amount to almost 30,000 euros per year - these were not covered.
