Mataus Morveyecki attacked the decision to downgrade relations following the storm of the Compensation for Holocaust Survivors Law • "The Meaning of Aggressive Actions - Increasing Hatred for Poles and Poland"

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki today (Sunday) posted a scathing response on his Facebook page to Foreign Minister Yair Lapid's attacks on Polish legislation that would allow the closure of property claims looted by the Nazis and the communist government in the country.

"Israel's decision to downgrade relations with Warsaw is unfounded and irresponsible. The words of Yair Lapid, Israel's foreign minister and deputy prime minister, are very offensive to any decent human being. Anyone who knows the truth about the Holocaust and Poland's suffering in World War II The other cannot accept such political conduct, "Morveyecki wrote.

As I recall, Lapid said yesterday: "Poland this evening, not for the first time, approved an antisemitic and immoral law. Tonight I instructed the head of the embassy in Warsaw to return to Israel immediately for indefinite consultations. "He would soon go to Warsaw, not go to Poland at this point. Poland has become an anti-democratic, non-liberal country tonight, which does not respect the greatest tragedy in human history. One must never remain silent. Israel and the Jewish people will certainly not remain silent."

"The exploitation of the tragedy for political and partisan needs is repulsive and irresponsible. If the Israeli government continues to attack Poland in this way, it will have serious consequences for our relations, both between the two countries and in the international arena," the Polish prime minister said.

"I am also appalled by the savage attack on Poland's ambassador to Israel, Merrick Magryowski, who for the past three years has worked tirelessly to build good relations between our countries," Morveyecki added.

"The aggressive actions of the State of Israel mean an increase in hatred for Poles and Poland in the country. For this reason, I have decided to ensure the transfer of the children of the Ambassador from Israel to Poland."

Poland today, for the first time, approved an antisemitic and immoral law.

Tonight, I instructed the head of the embassy in Warsaw to return immediately to Israel for indefinite consultations.

Earlier, the Polish Foreign Ministry also attacked Foreign Minister Lapid's decision to return the country's representative, following Israel's harsh response to the approval of the law that would prevent compensation from Holocaust survivors.

Also, the designated ambassador in the meantime will not move to Poland.
