The consumer price index rose by 0.4% last July, the Central Bureau of Statistics announced tonight (Sunday).

Notable price increases were recorded in transportation items, where an increase of 1.6% was measured and culture and entertainment, where an increase of 0.9% was measured.

Significant price decreases were recorded in the clothing and footwear items, which showed a decrease of 4.7% and vegetables and fruits - 0.7%.



Since the beginning of the year, the consumer price index has risen by 2.0% and in the last 12 months (July 2021 compared to July 2020), the consumer price index has risen by 1.9%.



There has also been an increase in housing market prices, which are not part of the consumer price index.

Comparing the prices of transactions made in May-June, compared with the prices of transactions made in April-May, it was found that apartment prices rose by 0.6%.

Thus, prices completed an increase of 7.7% compared to the same period last year (May 2020-June 2020).

In the segmentation of changes in housing prices by district in May-June compared with April-May, price increases were found in the following districts: North 1.5%, South 1.0%, Central 0.9%, Haifa 0.6% and Tel Aviv 0.2%. In contrast, the Jerusalem District recorded a decrease of 0.3%.



In the segmentation of changes in housing prices by districts compared to the corresponding period last year, May-June compared to May 2020 - June 2020, price increases were recorded in all districts: North (11.6%), Jerusalem (7.2%), Tel Aviv (7.1%), South ( 7.0%), Haifa (6.8%) and Central (6.6%).



In the price index of new dwellings, it was found that their prices increased in May 2021 - June 2021 compared with April-May by 3.2%, thus completing an increase of 9.2% compared to the corresponding period last year (May 2020 - June 2020). The percentage of transactions carried out with government support and participated in the calculation is 19.9%, compared with 24.1% in the previous period (April 2021 - May 2021).



The national average price of a transaction for the purchase of an apartment in the second quarter of 2021 was NIS 1,653.1 thousand.

In the previous quarter, the average price was NIS 1,704.9 thousand.
