The Swiss Roger Federer announced this Sunday that he must undergo surgery on his right knee again and anticipated that he will spend
"several months"
away from the professional world tennis circuit.
"I will need another knee surgery so I will be on crutches for many weeks and out of the game for many months. It's the right thing to do because I want to be healthy and give myself a ray of hope to get back on the circuit in some way," said Federer, who does a week he turned 40 years old, in a post on his Instagram account.
And he added: "I will need surgery to feel good in the medium or long term, so I decided to do it. I am realistic: I know how difficult it is to go through another surgery at my age but I want to try it and be healthy. I will do the rehabilitation process with a target while I'm still active. "
