The Jew was astonished: Who put $ 1,000 outside the synagogue every morning?
Even when we keep a mitzvah, we must be careful and act wisely because behind it can hide the evil instinct, which tells us fabrications and lies.
Rabbi Josiah Pinto explained these things through two interesting parables.

One should behave very wisely even when keeping a mitzvah, because sometimes a person keeps a mitzvah and the one who stands behind it is generally the evil instinct. By tricks, he sometimes tries to overthrow the person and hides for that purpose behind a disguise of mitzvos.
The Rebbe Rabbi Josiah Pinto, the head of the patriarchs in Morocco, elaborated on this point in his last lesson he gave at the Shuva Yeshiva in Manhattan and demonstrated this through a parable about a cruel man who had a large flock. That the sheep and the goats would run away from him in terror whenever he approached.
Finally, the same man found a trick and told every goat and sheep that they were other animals at all. To some he said they were human. That they believed him not to be goats and sheep and felt they had nothing to fear.
So are we in the face of the evil instinct - one should know what it is and not believe in fictional stories.
Rabbi Pinto added on a different parable, about a man who found $ 1,000 outside the synagogue, every morning after prayer.
