After the Ministry of Health last night (Sunday) surprisingly updated the new restrictions approved by the Corona Cabinet, many business owners, with an emphasis on banquet hall owners, were outraged at the decision and said it would affect them very severely.

Under the updated conditions, the number of guests in halls and event gardens will be limited to 500 people in open space and 400 indoors.

This is in contrast to the understandings reached between Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and the owners of the events, that the occupancy will not change.

"All this talk about restrictions affects us, the owners of the halls, in a very difficult way. In the last three weeks we have no forward invitations," said Noam Levy, chairman of the Association of Halls and Event Gardens and owner of Camilo Green House in Tel Aviv. As of November we have no reservations - our diary is empty.

Couples are afraid to close in advance and we are anxious about what will happen. "

Levy pointed to another problem, related to the number of guests allowed at each event.

"The events that are taking place at the moment have also decreased by 30%. This season we are experiencing a decrease in the number of guests - which affects the revenue at each event. To this must be added the 15% increase in the cost of food."

"Can't live with the uncertainty."

Levy explained that there are limits that a business can meet, but there are decisions that can "break" a stable business as well. "We can live with a limit of 400 people, but we can not live with the uncertainty and the fact that we have no orders. That way we can not hold out. There are anxieties for everyone: the workers know the diary is empty so we can certainly not pay them salaries," Levy testified.

"The biggest mystery is that we are having such a big crisis without the Ministry of Finance, we do not exist with him. Those who are trying to help are the Minister of Economy and the Prime Minister. They are the only ones dealing with us. In the first crisis, Finance Minister Katz "Without the financial assistance, we will not be able to get through the crisis. The damage done to us is not from the green or purple character, but mainly from the uncertainty that affects people not to close events in advance," he concluded.

Ziv Barzani, CEO of "The Happy Wedding Company", also told Walla! About the difficulties the business is facing. "The restrictions of 400-500 do not deter people.

Today, events in the first place take place on a smaller scale.

One of the main problems right now is that guests are not interested in attending events, which is what is leading to significant changes in lowering the number of guests.

From this arises the need to renegotiate with the ballroom. "

"The audience suddenly does not want to come because the health situation is not clear," Barzani said, adding that "people feel insecure about the variant - even infected vaccinated. The happy owners have promised a minimum number of guests, ".

Barzani recounted the questions that arise from the happy owners: "Does the price change or not change? If the number of people goes down by a hundred guests - who will absorb it, the event garden or the happy owners? It is a lot of money that the event hall was supposed to receive "A second problem is that the coming winter season does not close in terms of events. People close events only for next summer, but this coming winter people avoid closing an event from moment to moment as would normally happen."

"We are hanging in the air because it is not known what will happen."

Eran Dalal, owner of the 5.91 events complex in Netanya, also spoke about the significant impact on the business, due to the limitations: "It affects me personally because the quantities I can accommodate are also decreasing. I have a direct income. There is probably a reduction in employees due to the situation, but the atmosphere and talk of more restrictions does not contribute to determining future events ahead. Instead of 500 to be 400, it is fine and better than nothing. Next summer - we are hanging in the air because it is not known what will happen. "

Dalal addressed the issue of the danger of closure hovering over the realm of events: "Tomorrow's event dropped from 350 people to 200. This is a significant reduction because of guests who did not want to come. We absorbed this cost by 90%, and the happy owners absorbed 10%. This is "In the NIS 40,000 we absorb. The damage is done directly and it encompasses all the parameters. In fact, we have been in a 'closure' for a month now, from the moment they started talking about it - it disturbed businesses," he concluded.
