The traffic on the A94 motorway is increasing.

Six lanes are to be expanded between Ostkreuz and Markt Schwaben - residents hope for noise protection.

Angelbrechting - Thinking about how the noise can be made more bearable for the residents of the A94 motorway - that was the aim of a conversation between the district associations Ebersberg and Erding of the Free Voters with residents in Angelbrechting (municipality of Poing).

Particularly with a view to the planned six-lane expansion on the 5.5-kilometer section between the Munich-East motorway junction and the Markt Schwaben junction.

This measure is included in the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030.

The traffic on this section is already stalling almost every day, especially during commuting times in the morning and in the evening, because the motorway is congested.

Prepare now for the plan approval procedure

"All those present agreed that in the course of the preliminary draft planning for the plan approval procedure, all forces, both at the political level and directly from the citizens, must be bundled in order to finally implement the necessary noise protection measures," summarizes Günter Scherzl from the Freie Voting Community (FWG) Poing together.

This applies to all communities along the A 94 between the Munich-East motorway junction and Dorfen.

Suggestions for improvement

A good year ago, the mayors of the affected communities in the district of Ebersberg (Poing, Anzing, Forstinning, Markt Schwaben and Vaterstetten) met for the first time with representatives of the Southern Bavaria Motorway Directorate and the Rosenheim State Building Authority to discuss the situation.

The meeting was initiated by the CSU member of the state parliament, Thomas Huber.

He wrote after the meeting that the mayor had proposed some measures to improve the noise and traffic pollution on the A94.

For example with a speed limit.

Whispered asphalt as a possible measure

At the current meeting with the Free Voters, the possibility of so-called whispering asphalt was also discussed, which was recently laid in the section between Forstinning and Hohenlinden (we reported). This section is operated by a public-private partnership, which is not the case in the further course towards Munich (and thus also in the area of Angelbrechting). According to the current status, such an operator model is not planned here, informs Günter Scherzl. Nonetheless, “here too, of course, effective structural noise protection measures are required for the residents, some of whom live less than 300 meters as the crow flies from the A94,” wrote the Free Voters in a press release.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our new, regular Ebersberg newsletter.)

The FW member of the state parliament and deputy chairman of the state parliament committee for building, housing and transport, Manfred Eibl, as well as the Bundestag candidate Birgit Obermaier and Peter Deischl, mayor of Pastetten, were present at the meeting.

Eibl explained the legal basis of the planning process for the six-lane expansion and, in particular, went into the procedure for determining the noise emission values.

"Especially with the latter, it is of essential importance that the relevant and representative measuring points are asserted and determined in the upcoming plan approval procedure," said Scherzl.
