Wolfratshausen - On Sunday, August 15, an apartment building in Wolfratshausen "Am Waldrand" was badly damaged in a fire.

Wolfratshausen - On Sunday, August 15, an apartment building in Wolfratshausen "Am Waldrand" was badly damaged in a fire.

Since the fire spread from the facade to the roof structure of the terraced house, there was a risk that the flames could spread to surrounding buildings.

Fortunately, that could be prevented.

Four people were injured in the fire.

The property damage is around 500,000 euros.

At 10.06 a.m. on Sunday, August 15, the integrated control center in Oberland received the alarm that a building in Wolfratshausen was on fire.

The fire brigade's emergency services were able to detect a strong smoke development as soon as they were approaching.

When the fire brigade arrived, the fire had already spread over the facade to the roof structure.

Therefore, the alert level was raised and other rescue workers were alerted.

The fire brigade immediately began an extensive fire-fighting attack with several teams to prevent the flames from spreading to the adjacent house.

"For further fire fighting, two turntable ladders had to be used at times to extinguish the flames and open the roof skin," reports Stefan Kießkalt, spokesman for the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district fire inspection.

Other troops fought the flames in the building and attic.

The alarmed ambulance service took care of the residents of the building.

Two people had to be treated and one transported to the hospital.

The other residents were able to get themselves to safety.

According to Kießkalt, two firefighters were injured during the extinguishing work, one of which was also taken to a hospital.

Even if the fire was out after about two hours, the extinguishing work lasted until the afternoon, "as the search for embers in the attic was very difficult," says the spokesman for the district fire inspection.

Afterwards, the open roof structure was temporarily sealed with an emergency roof, "which could be opened up spontaneously," continues Kießkalt.

The Upper Bavaria Police Headquarters reports that a total of 180 police, rescue services and fire services were involved.

Among them: The fire brigades from Wolfratshausen, Geretsried, Gelting, Weidach, Icking, Eurasburg and Neufahrn.

“The comrades took turns.

Working with respiratory protection was very exhausting at the temperatures, ”explains Kießkalt with a view to the very hot summer day.

When asked by the Yellow Leaf, Hubert Bernwieser from the city of Wolfratshausen reported that the apartments devastated by the fire were currently not habitable.

“The four families affected by the fire were offered hotel accommodation.

However, they are all temporarily staying with friends and family, ”said Bernwieser.

This is of course only an interim solution.

They are now looking for new apartments together.

The property damage is according to initial estimates at 500,000 euros.

The criminal police in Weilheim took over the investigation into the cause of the fire.
