Predicted failure in Afghanistan Israel today

2021-08-16T07:26:23.222Z

Like a story whose end is known in advance, as soon as the Americans announced a withdrawal from Afghanistan, the regime collapsed like a tower of cards. It would have been better in 2001 to attack the Taliban and leave the country

The last American troops are due to leave Afghanistan in just about a month, but for the Taliban the road to the capital Kabul is fast.

The Biden administration has estimated that with the withdrawal of American forces, the Taliban could take over the country within a few months, but did not anticipate that this would happen within days.

The sights of the frightened evacuation of the Americans from Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam, in April 1975, as well as the panic of thousands of refugees from the advanced Viet Cong forces, are now returning in large part all over Afghanistan, about a thousand witnesses testify.

In Washington they learned nothing from history.

It was no more just than the war the United States embarked on in late 2001 to overthrow the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. And in Washington. The

Taliban rule in Afghanistan was a rule of darkness just like the rule of ISIS, which feeds on the same sources of inspiration. The Taliban imprisoned women in their homes, banned technology and Western culture from entering the country and non-religious education for children, and even destroyed barbaric archeological archeological archeological histories But there are dark regimes in many countries, and the international community does nothing to film them.

But in Afghanistan, and two years later also in Iraq, American ambition knew no bounds.

Washington sought not only to punish the Taliban, but also to build an Afghan nation, where the residents belong to a family or tribe, and certainly not to an imaginary nation that does not exist at all.

The Americans brought a blessing to Afghanistan, paved roads in it and promoted its economy.

They brought a line to many Afghans, who were now faced with opportunities for education and employment.

But a nation does not build, but it develops and grows by itself and slowly, and certainly not in response to a foreign dictate.

The American experience in post-World War II Japan and Germany is irrelevant in the case before us, since it is a traditional, backward-looking population with no national identity.

Many Afghans benefited from the American presence, but many more were left behind, choosing to prioritize tradition - over changing world orders, and over a foreign and threatening world of Western values and culture.

And beyond all this, the administration established by the Americans was rotten and corrupt, maintained in dollars and leaning on the bayonets of American soldiers.

And like a story whose end is known in advance, as soon as the Americans announced their intention to withdraw from the country, this regime collapsed like a tower of cards.

It would have been better, perhaps, in 2001, to hit the Taliban and leave the country, thus saving two decades of bloodshed.

The United States does not have to worry. It is a strong and confident power, which on the whole seeks to reduce losses. It will continue to prosper even without Afghanistan, and even North Vietnam has later become its ally, next to its table (due to the fear of China of course).

But the heart goes out to the Afghans, who have been subjected to a regime of darkness determined to bring the country and its inhabitants back a thousand years.

In any case, no one asks for their opinion, and in any case they have no desire or power to oppose it.

Otherwise we would have seen a little more opposition to the Taliban, and minimal mobilization in favor of the government.

One can only hope that Taliban version 2021 will turn out to be the one who learned the lesson, both from Taliban version 2001 and from ISIS.

And who knows, maybe in the future he will become an ally of Washington, due to his hostility to Iran and Russia.

One way or another, the lesson is clear.

In world politics there are no friends, there are only interests.

Nor will anyone volunteer to fight for those who are unable to defend themselves.
