This morning, Minister of Internal Security Amar Bar-Lev held a situation assessment with Fire and Rescue Commissioner Dedi Simchi, and the Jerusalem District Commander of the Police, Doron Turgeman.
At the end of the assessment, Minister Bar-Lev said that "if we do not manage to build fire barriers on the outskirts of Jerusalem, then towards noon when the humidity drops and the temperature rises. As easily as it started yesterday, the fire can spread towards Hadassah Hospital and Ein Kerem. "Lunch is critical."
He added that "if by then we will be able to build a checkpoint to the east, even if a local fire develops - we will be able to deal with it. If not, we will be in serious trouble."
