Ankara-Sana

The number of victims of the floods that hit northern Turkey a few days ago has risen to 70, while the search is still underway for dozens of missing persons.

The government agency responsible for managing natural disasters said, "47 people are still missing after the torrential floods that swept the Black Sea regions last Wednesday after heavy rains."

Specialized teams continue to search among the ruins of dozens of collapsed houses in Bozkurt, the most affected area.

The floods, the deadliest in Turkey in decades, came at a time when the country was barely recovering from major fires that killed eight and devastated tourist areas in the south.

After these natural disasters that struck Turkey, many politicians and associations intensified their pressure on President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to take drastic measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while Turkey is one of the few countries that did not adopt the Paris climate agreement concluded in 2015.
