Long hours after it started, the huge fire in the Jerusalem mountains continues to burn this morning (Monday), despite the many efforts of the fire brigade.

Fire and rescue services said that about 17,000 dunams caught fire in the fire, which began raging yesterday afternoon.

At the same time, the police are continuing their efforts to locate Jose, who was staying at the Eitanim mental health hospital, 25-year-old Shabtai Shimon Sigal from Ma'ale Adumim, who has been missing since the incident began.

Another Jose was found yesterday around midnight, after hours of searches, and he was transferred to Kfar Shaul Hospital.

Fire and Rescue reported that about seventy teams from the Jerusalem District and others operated along the sector, and that in most of the hotspots the bride of the fire was obtained, but noted that it was too early to determine that control had been achieved.

The fire is now burning in five different sectors Tzova-Ksalon, Beit Meir-Shoresh Shoeva, Eitanim-Givat Ye'arim-Tzova, Har Eitan-Steph.

According to the fire department, the operation of the firefighting planes was stopped at night, and resumed at first light.

Tafsir Nissim Toito, commander of the Jerusalem district, said that "at this time we are carrying out a change of shifts of the working forces in order to maintain the continuum of operational activity and refresh the teams that have been fighting fierce fire since yesterday afternoon."

Despite the efforts, a Jerusalem resident, C., claims that he called the fire department at 14:38 to report the fire that developed in the comb grove in Beit Meir, but was told that the issue was "known and addressed."

According to G., "After 7 minutes I see the fire spreading, I call and say 'the whole district about this fire, be calm'."

He notes that despite what he was told on the phone, "another eight, ten minutes pass, and then I see the fire 40 meters from the entrance to the institution, and then I started shouting - I said we must evacuate the settlement, and I started evacuating all the students."

About 3,100 residents were forced to evacuate due to the flames from five localities, Beit Meir, Shoeva, Ksalon, Ramat Raziel and Givat Ya'arim, as well as the Eitanim Mental Health Hospital.

About 12 planes, including IDF assistance, have been working to gain control of the fire since yesterday.
