Starnberg - Around 11.25 a.m., passers-by on the lake promenade alerted the volunteers.
About half an hour earlier they had observed a 70-year-old from Starnberg, who walked uncertainly to the water and then started swimming.
When he couldn't be seen again after a while, they worried about the swimmer.
Immediately after the search began, the man from Starnberg got out of the water safely.
Because of his distinctive walk, he could be identified as the one who was concerned.
After a short check by the Starnberg water rescuers, the mission was quickly over.
A similar operation took place around 3:45 p.m. Two 40-year-old swimmers wanted to swim from Nordbad Tutzing towards Feldafing. After just under an hour, this was too long for another swimmer, and here too the water rescue team was alerted as a precaution. These two swimmers could also be found safely and continued their way back to Tutzing independently.
Even if the effort that the water rescue workers make after such an alarm is not insignificant, one should not be afraid to inform the rescue team at an early stage before searching for hours on one's own. Then the chance is significantly higher of finding those you are worried about in a timely manner. The rescue workers from Wasserwacht Starnberg, Wasserwacht Feldafing and DLRG Pöcking-Possenhofen were on duty in today's missions. Since the Starnberg District Water Rescue Station also happened to be taking part in a training course for prospective water rescuers, the candidates were able to be included in the search and immediately put into practice what they had already mastered in theory.
The water rescuers are still preparing for the announced thunderstorm. Often times, rescuing boats that are unable to maneuver are to be expected here.
Rescue operation on land
Already on Saturday, after the announcement of an unconscious person, the water rescue set off on the way to the rescue pier on the lake promenade. Passers-by reported about a man who had fallen asleep in the sun, but could no longer really be spoken to. Since the Starnberg water rescuers can be on the scene by boat in such cases faster than the rescue service, they are requested by the control center. After a first brief examination, the suspicion that the patient was unconscious was not confirmed - but he was clearly dazed anyway. After the first aid, he was handed over to the ambulance service, who took him to the clinic for further examination.
