Affected by the epidemic, not only has the usual study rules been disrupted, even the extracurricular activities of students have to be stopped for a long time, and campus life is directly affected.

In the long-term online classes, many parents also expressed concern that their children would be prone to indulging in electronic products due to long hours at home, and that their social skills would become weaker because of their rare classmates.

In response to the change in learning mode, Jiulong Sanyu Middle School has specially designed a series of secondary one orientation activities this summer to allow freshmen to develop their personal creativity, develop problem-solving skills and experience teamwork. We hope that students can enjoy the fun of peer interaction in the process. Strengthen the spirit of collaboration among students and establish a sense of belonging to the new campus.

The four-day orientation activities are very diverse. In addition to fun English and mathematics activities, STEM experience and other learning activities involving subject knowledge, the school has specially added counseling elements for freshmen, including gardening therapy as the concept. "Vanilla planting", students design their own potted plants and bring them home to continue growing them. In addition to learning to observe the process of plant growth, they also know how to appreciate the wonders of plant growth.

In addition, in terms of group cooperative games, the teacher asked Secondary One students from different schools who did not know each other to participate in interesting interactive games to open up the conversation and build friendship with each other.

"Jingjiao production" and "hot-hot glue bead keychain DIY" both encourage students to do it by hand, which not only trains concentration, but also develops creativity.

While the students are participating in the activity, the teacher will guide and observe and record the performance of the students.

The students who showed positive devotion and had the courage to try all won awards in the last day's commendation ceremony, and the students were extremely excited.

Jiulong Sanyu Middle School’s previous Secondary One self-assigned place interviews have also broken the tradition and replaced the rigid and formulaic interviews with diversified activities that are easy to “do”.

Each interview student is assigned to independently complete designated tasks, such as assembling a mini model car and testing the speed on the spot; controlling a small aerial camera; or completing a balance fulcrum model on the spot under the guidance of a physics teacher.

The interview teacher records the performance of students' concentration, understanding, and learning commitment on the spot.

The students completed the entire interview process under zero pressure, and many of them also said that the activities were interesting and fun.
