Update from August 16, 8:30 p.m.:

The German company Biontech and the partnered US company Pfizer have provided the US drug authorities with the first data of a phase 1 study for the approval of a corona booster vaccination.

These data are also to be submitted to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and other authorities in the coming weeks.

All future data should also be forwarded.

Booster vaccination study data passed on from Biontech / Pfizer

According to information from Biontech, participants in the study received a booster vaccination eight to nine months after the second vaccination dose. The result so far: Compared to a double vaccination, people with an additional booster vaccination could have found “significantly higher neutralizing antibody titers”. This applies to both the original virus variant and the new delta variant.

Update from August 16, 7:00 p.m.:

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) plans to examine the use of the arthritis drug Actemra from Roche for the treatment of seriously ill Covid-19 patients in an accelerated process. This drug is intended to treat sick people who are already on corticosteroids and need oxygen or complete artificial respiration. The result, which is to be obtained from four clinical studies, should be known by mid-October.

Update from August 16, 3:22 p.m.:

The federal government has emphasized that the Stiko recommendation for corona vaccination for twelve to 17-year-olds is not associated with a compulsory vaccination.

"The vaccination remains voluntary and must not be made a requirement for school attendance," said Federal Family Ministry Christine Lambrecht (SPD) on Monday.

Government spokesman Steffen Seibert had previously expressed a similar opinion on the subject.

Lambrecht called the vaccination recommendation an important step in combating the corona pandemic.

There is now a clear, scientifically based orientation for parents and children.

"The recommendation makes it easier for parents and their children to make a decision."

According to Stiko recommendation: Greens demand "schoolyard vaccination offers"

Update from August 16, 2:15 p.m.:

After the new vote of the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko), the Greens are calling for quick vaccination opportunities for all children from the age of twelve. "Now it takes speed to create easily accessible schoolyard vaccination offers for schoolchildren, which are then also open to their parents", said Green parliamentary group leader Katrin Göring-Eckardt on Monday of the German press agency. According to the Robert Koch Institute, as of August 15, 24.3 percent of 12 to 17 year olds had been vaccinated at least once.

In general, the corona vaccination campaign in Germany is progressing primarily with second vaccinations.

Almost 90,600 doses were injected on Sunday, 67,700 of which resulted in a complete vaccination.

The Federal Ministry of Health announced on Monday.

A total of 47.6 million people or 57.2 percent of the population are now fully vaccinated.

52.6 million (63.2 percent) have received at least one first vaccination

Update from August 16, 1:44 p.m

.: Walking has become more popular in the corona pandemic.

Young people between the ages of 18 and 39 in particular discovered walking for themselves (65 percent).

The official recommendation text is not yet available, changes are possible, the news agency dpa announced.

Corona: Bavaria starts third vaccination

Bavaria starts with the Corona booster vaccinations. "The vaccination centers and the resident, treating doctors in Bavaria can already offer booster vaccinations," said Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) on Monday in Munich, as reported by the dpa news agency. This is especially true for very old people over 80 years of age, residents of nursing homes, people with immunodeficiency diseases or immunosuppression and those in need of care who live at home.

However, for a third corona vaccination, the second vaccination must be six months ago.

According to the decision of the Conference of Health Ministers, everyone who has been fully vaccinated with a vector vaccine from Astrazeneca * or Johnson & Johnson * is also envisaged for a refresher.

In practice, however, this group of people will only have their turn from the beginning of September because of the six-month interval that applies here as well.

Corona: Relaxation for vaccinated and convalescent people in Baden-Württemberg

In Baden-Württemberg, a new corona ordinance will come into force this Monday: According to the government, many restrictions will be lifted for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered.

For those who have not been vaccinated and those who have not recovered, they have to show a corona test much more often, which must not be older than 24 hours.

This applies, for example, to hairdressers and restaurants for interiors as well as to visits to museums, hotels or fitness studios.

Anyone wishing to go to a club or disco must have a negative PCR test.

Children who have not yet started school are exempt from the test requirement.

The mask requirement in local public transport, shops and hotels remains in place for everyone.
