Corona is a confusing disease, it is difficult to predict who will die and who will survive, this fact causes the most experienced doctors to lose faith in their intuition • Today, we stand on 26 patients in the ward, mostly severe, thirsty for air and oxygen, when the phone keeps ringing and informing more patients • Dr. Rimon Ertol in a chilling description from Barzilai Hospital

The corona crisis is not over yet, we are in the fourth wave.

I feel like I'm in the middle of a dramatic, rolling event, that I do not see the end of.

It's a new and difficult experience for me, I'm not used to seeing such mortality rates and thinking we're losing a battle in the face of death.

Our job is to heal and save lives and in the current situation, many times, it comes down to accompanying the patient to his death in as dignified a manner as possible.

Corona is a confusing disease, it is difficult to predict who will die and who will survive - death in the corona is unexpected.

The situation can be described as an endless war of attrition.

The dramatic reduction in the number of hospital beds in the inpatient and geriatric wards, accelerates discharges from the wards, and creates a tremendous physical and mental burden on the medical staff.

The fact that it is a deceptive disease causes even the most experienced doctors to lose confidence in their intuition.

The great difficulty stems from the fact that there is a very narrow window of opportunity, during which we can give the difficult patients a treatment that will save their lives, but we do not always know which treatment is right.

Just a week ago the geriatric ward, where I work, became a corona ward, today we stand on 26 corona patients mostly hard and thirsty for air and oxygen, with the phone on the counter constantly ringing and announcing more admissions to the ward.

Our day as doctors begins with getting to know patients through a computerized system and a TV screen, which reminds me of the Big Brother program.

After a long sitting of distant acquaintance, you indulge and start sweating for hours in a closed ward.

Our work has become harder and more tiring and stressful, not only giving care intravenously or orally, we accompany our patients through these difficult moments that are thirsty for oxygen and air, a feeling of loneliness within a closed ward.

The ward staff was fully mobilized to fight for each patient at all hours and under all conditions.

In light of the above, please follow the instructions, go get vaccinated.

Only then can we deal with the corona plague.
