Thousands of farmers demonstrated today (Tuesday) in Moshav Avivim (near the Israel-Lebanon border) against the reform that the ministers of finance and agriculture are trying to promote under the Arrangements Law - and not in an agreement with them.
The farmers also call on the Ministers of Finance and Agriculture to take care of the marketing chains "that oppress the public", and not to harm the Israeli farmers "who are struggling for their livelihood".
During the protest, clashes broke out between farmers and soldiers after some of the protesters tried to hit the fence.
Council Chairman Marom Galil, Amit Sofer, said that "there was a point event of a number of farmers confronting the security forces. The event ended quickly and is under control. We will continue our fight in legitimate ways. This reform will not only destroy agriculture in Israel but also risk famine." .

Avshalom (Abu) Villan, secretary general of the Israel Agricultural Association, said in a demonstration that "the reform of the ministers of finance and agriculture will result in the elimination of agriculture in Israel, will not lower prices for citizens - but only enrich the marketing chains and importers.
"Instead of addressing the real problems - the pig profit of the marketing chains, which make billions and sell the agricultural produce twice and 3 times the price the farmer receives, and in the intermediation gaps that make prices more expensive, the ministers choose to harm the egg, fruit and vegetable growers who keep the borders."

"Growth quotas are an economic asset and a government can not just take them, out of whim and without compensation to farmers who will immediately lose their livelihoods. We are not against change, but not like that - without dialogue and within the framework of the Arrangements Law."
