Flea market or flea market fans had to cope with a long dry spell.

Corona was also the catchphrase there that resulted in such a long forced break.

During this time, the Schongau flea market organizer and long-time “junk guru” Rudi Mahl has repeatedly looked for opportunities to hold one of his popular markets.

That was now possible again in Lechbruck.

Lechbruck

- The ray of light came to the Assumption of Mary.

Mahl's traditional market in Lechbruck was allowed to take place.

The early rush on this dreamy Assumption morning showed how eagerly the providers have been waiting for this moment.

Shortly after 3 o'clock in the morning the first ones arrived at the market area.

Not to set up the stands, that is only allowed much later.

The early risers just wanted to be sure of getting their favorite spot for the day.

And wanted to get rid of their experiences of the long dry spell in a morning round of talks.

We know each other, we value each other: Elisabeth, Heidi, Jürgen, Monika, Willi, Regina and, and and.

The die-hard flea market troop was finally among themselves again.

Rudi Mahl gave the starting shot three hours later.

The rattling of the wallpaper tables when setting up could not be overheard.

That attracted the other early risers.

The ones who wanted to get their bargain that early morning.

Who stuck their noses deep into the boxes when unpacking the curiosities.

“Just don't overlook anything that the other could get hold of,” is the motto.

Thermos flasks were opened, the smell of coffee wafted across the square, butter pretzels satisfy the first hunger.

The tables are set up, the offerings are attractively set up.

You want to get the junk to the man.

After 9 a.m. the first families arrived, 30 minutes later everything that wanted to go to the water somewhere in the afternoon.

The sun meant it almost too well.

Then there was a hustle and bustle as the providers had wished for.

"The main business will run until noon, then it will be bad," predicted Elisabeth, who had taken a seat under her parasol.

Shortly before noon a curious encounter at a stand: Cornelius Wintergerst, who had come to Lechbruck with his 500 series BMW from Eisenberg in the Allgäu to find old cameras and film equipment, was lucky.

The collector was able to acquire a whole cloth bag full of unusual pieces and thus enlarge his collection.

This, in turn, was observed by a very old hand and photo specialist: Hermann Dürr, owner of the photo museum in Steingaden, which is well-known beyond the district boundaries, pursued the purchase, and it came as it had to.

Two with the aim of expanding their collection again and again had found each other at Lechsee.

The addresses were exchanged and mutual visits arranged.

That too is flea market flair that you had to wait so long for.

And for all Schongauers who are longing for their flea market on Lechuferstraße, here's the good news: On Saturday, August 28th, Rudi Mahl will hold his popular, large flea market on Lechuferstraße.
