Spitzingsee - The hiking trail between Taubenstein and Rotwandhaus has had a new face since last week.

The Munich section of the German Alpine Club has completed its extensive renovation work on the path - also actively supported by the municipality of Schliersee.

The section had a 1.7 kilometer stretch prepared.

The people in charge report in a press release that the path is the most used in the entire district.

Up to eight employees were involved in the work, which lasted more than four weeks.

For new, safe steps, they built around 780 meters of robinia wood and several hundredweight of stone material.

Thomas Urban, Managing Director of the Munich Section, thanks the government of Upper Bavaria and the municipality of Schliersee for financial support.

“The active support from the municipal building yard, which transported the stone from the Fischbachau quarry to the Rotwandhaus, was also very helpful,” adds the managing director.

The road work was done by the Hannes Zwölfer company from Grafrath (Fürstenfeldbruck district), explains Gesell.

The rehabilitation of the Taubenstein-Rotwandhaus hiking trail marks the beginning of a series of further trail modernizations in the area around the Spitzing for the Munich section.

In the coming year, the network of paths from Taubenstein via Jägerkamp to Schönfeldalmen is to be renovated.

In the following year, several valley climbs such as the Lochgraben and the way to the Spitzingsattel are planned, announced Thomas Gesell, responsible for the area of huts and paths in the Munich section.

With this work, the Alpine Club sections made an important contribution to the preservation and maintenance of a large part of the mountain and hiking trails in the Alps, says Gesell. Not only the people who are active in the mountains benefit from it. During the renovations, important nature conservation aspects are also taken into account, explains Gesell. "So we made extra-wide paths narrower and dismantled branches in order to prevent an excessive network of paths, and thus restored the former landscape overall."
