Holzkirchen - A canteen operator wants to offer exclusive kitchen parties, cooking courses and gourmet dinners in the Holzkirchen-Nord industrial park.

Opinions differed in the local council.

The corona pandemic has once again made it clear: If you want to be self-employed in the long term, you have to think outside the box.

This was particularly evident in the catering trade.

The operators of the company canteen in the Holzkirchen-Nord industrial park have given a lot of thought to how they can generate income in addition to their normal day-to-day business.

But the way is not easy - also because the local councils do not agree on their plans.

Magdalena Klein and Philip Jaeger jointly founded the company "Klein'er Taste Jaeger" and took over the company canteen in the Holzkirchen Technology Park in the middle of the corona pandemic.

Since then, they have been supplying around 250 people with meals during their lunch break.

Head chef in the "Fährhütte 14" restaurant

In star gastronomy, the two are no strangers: Both have made their way through the country's gourmet kitchens. Klein is currently the head chef in the “Fährhütte 14” restaurant in Rottach-Egern. But only until October, because then she would like to fully join the joint company with her partner.

The lunch business in the company canteen is supposed to remain the main business of the two, but they need more income.

In order to rethink gastronomy, as Jaeger explains, they created a concept that extends the use of the canteen to include gourmet dinners, cooking courses and events.

For this, the couple applied for a bar and restaurant license from the Miesbach district office, because this was not yet available when the rooms were taken over - and this was the point at which the community came into play.

Because the district office asked for a statement from the municipality due to the conversion.

Development plan 132 for technology park

The existing development plan 132 for the technology park is drafted in such a way that catering is permitted.

So the conversion of the canteen would not be a problem either.

Actually, because as Mayor Christoph Schmid explained in the meeting before the summer break, the prevailing opinion in the committee at the time was that businesses without gastronomy should arise there.

The only exceptions would be the canteen and a bakery as local suppliers.

But this was not included in the development plan at the time.

A tricky situation, as Doris Hötzendorfer from the building authority explained: If there was a political desire to prevent further gastronomy there, the existing development plan would have to be changed by a resolution.

Problems with disco "hole"

However, opinions on the concept of the two chefs differed widely in the committee.

While Michael Wohlschläger (CSU) expressed his appreciation for “new ideas from highly qualified people who do not yet exist with us”, parliamentary group colleague Albert Kraml reminded the concerns of the local councils at the time.

He and Josef Sappl senior (CSU) fear similar problems as in the old industrial park with the discotheque “Loch”, which not only caused massive complaints from the population once.

Dirk Kreder (FDP) denied that such a scenario could also arise in Föching: “The premises there are completely unsuitable for a pub or disco.

Someone is struggling to survive.

It would be a bogus prank to turn the tap on an existing company. "

Exclusive kitchen parties and cooking classes

When asked, Jaeger also confirmed that such use was not part of the concept at all.

Rather, the passionate chefs plan exclusive kitchen parties and cooking courses as well as gourmet dinners for a maximum of 25 guests - and only a few times a month, outside the business hours of the surrounding companies.

Every now and then company celebrations or weddings would also be planned - but then only in the evening or weekend and with a maximum of 110 people.

In addition, the lease agreement stipulates the type and scope of the events.

Ulrike Küster (Greens), among others, saw as a problem that the public gastronomy could compete with the local economy: “We have much cheaper rents in the commercial area than in town.” Wolfgang Huber (SPD) titled this statement as dipferlscheißerei and warned : “This creates an offer for which I would actually have to go to Munich.

I would be proud if there was something like that in Holzkirchen.

If we change the development plan, we will shoot sparrows with cannons. "

Voting ends in stalemate

Jaeger also does not see “Klein'er Taste Jaeger” as competition: “This type of modern gastronomy is unique in Holzkirchen. That would be an asset for the community. ”He also finds it a shame that neither he nor Klein - who both attended the meeting of the community council - were asked about their plans. “Then we could have explained that we were already thinking about opening a restaurant in the center of the village,” he says. But the canteen has to run economically first so that they have the freedom to implement this plan.

How things will continue remains exciting, because the negatively formulated proposed resolution asked for no changes to the development plan 132 and ended with a stalemate of 12:12 votes.

If the proposed resolution had been formulated positively, as actually required, there would have been a change in this case.

A case that manager Robert Haunschild first had to clarify.

New start after summer vacation

In the second meeting of the body then the dissolution: A majority would be required for the amendment of the statutes.

Actually means that gastronomy is still allowed in the technology park.

However, the municipal councils agreed that the administration would rewrite the proposed resolution again - and then positively - and vote again in the meeting after the summer break.

For Jaeger and Klein, this now means waiting. But they have not lost their courage. “We are now stamping this as an empirical value. Nobody knows how things will go from here, even with Corona, but we have enough plans and ideas, ”both of them look optimistically into the future.
