The five defendants are the father (44 years old), mother (42 years old), Xiu Xiu (67 years old), uncle (39 years old) and grandfather (65 years old) of woman victim X.
Among them, the father, grandparents and uncle were charged from October 8, 2018 to January 23, 2019, for conspiring to obstruct justice, causing X to change the original evidence in the criminal case of the High Court.
Except for his grandfather, all three defendants were convicted of this charge.
X’s parents were also charged with obstruction of justice on October 20, 2018, alleging that X’s mother and X left Hong Kong in order to prevent them from giving evidence in criminal cases as prosecution witnesses.
Both defendants were convicted.
